BASIS Prescott opened in August 2014 to approximately 400 students in grades 5–10. The new school, located on Prescott Lakes Parkway just south of Willow Lake Road, will add an additional grade each year and the Class of '17 will be BASIS Prescott's initial graduating class.
BASIS Prescott features the same highly-ranked, world-acclaimed academic program as the BASIS legacy schools in Scottsdale and Tucson. The primary school program focuses on building organizational and study skills, and creating a deep knowledge base necessary for students to tackle the demanding, rewarding, AP-driven upper school curriculum. In 5th grade, students are introduced to Latin, Classics, General Science, and Physical Geography. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are offered as individual science courses beginning in 6th grade. Students in 7th grade have the opportunity to study Mandarin, French, or Spanish.
The BASIS legacy schools in Scottsdale and Tucson are consistently recognized as being among the finest high school programs in the country, and have been highly ranked by U.S. News and World Report, Newsweek, and The Washington Post. BASIS students take honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses as early as 8th grade. These College Board® courses and exams are now recognized and valued by more than 90 percent of the college and universities in the country, as well as by many prestigious institutions overseas. As BASIS Prescott grows, the school will offer all students Honors, AP and post-AP level classes in the high school grades — and continue the high-level excellence it instills.
